A Full Bore Valve (also known as a full port valve) features a spherical bore that is identical in diameter to the inside of the connecting pipeline. Because there is no narrowing of the internal diameter, flow resistance is minimized, keeping the flow coefficient (Cv) at its absolute maximum. This design is highly effective at eliminating localized cavitation, preventing pressure drops, and maintaining predictable flow dynamics across the system.
Compared to standard or reduced port valves, full bore configurations optimize pump power consumption. When fluid passes through a restriction, it experiences a localized velocity surge and subsequent pressure drop (known as the Venturi effect). This energy loss forces pumps to work harder, increasing electricity usage and causing mechanical stress across the system.
