Q Why do cryogenic ball valves require extended bonnets?
An extended bonnet keeps the stem seal (gland packing) far enough from the cryogenic pipeline. This allows warm ambient air to create a vapor barrier, keeping the packing warm enough to prevent freeze damage and ensuring standard operation of the actuator.
Q How does the cavity pressure relief system protect the valve?
When liquid cryogenic media is trapped in the ball cavity, even a minor increase in ambient temperature causes rapid vaporization. Our valves feature relief holes on the ball or self-relieving seats, venting excess pressure back to the high-pressure upstream side.
